It is tough at first, and all who have to do it, go through the same emotions. Heck, I had a hard time too, and I got to bring my kids with me! The expanding the independence thing is an on-going thing. I am still dealing with it... kids demanding it, and I am not sure if I am ready. It's things like walking around town with friends and staying home on their own. I remember riding my bike all around the neighborhood with freedom. How did our parents get to feeling comfortable about letting us do that?

A tip: give a disposable camera with Claire's name on it to the teacher to take photos from time to time. I had a few parents do that when I worked in child care, and I thought it was a pretty cool idea. Then you get to see what she is doing during her day, and those times are also documented.

Yes - was taught in school, loved it! I am biased however - my father was a SD caller.
It is better today than back then - there are more moves and it's done to all types of music and all over the world - check out Super Trooper Square Dance on You Tube by Anna Johansson - it'll change your mind about it. You will still find the outfits at large dances and festivals, but it's not required at local dance - as long as you are wearing clothes we will let you dance!

Do your work!!

Haha... says the girl who would rather clean than study for the CPA exam or school :)
I get ya on the spending time with Claire thing - I can't even imagine going back to work right now with her around, let alone spending time studying in the evenings for school! It's just a convenient excuse that I disliked the masters program prior to having her...

It makes me think we're doing something right if she's happy in her dreams!! :) I also love seeing her laugh in her sleep, although I really want her to laugh in waking hours, too!

I am always intrigued with how a person with such limited life experiences can have such, what it seems, vivid dreams. What do babies dream of anyway?

Haha! I remember that when I was in college, and I had to cram for a test or something, I had a huge urge to clean. You could tell when I was stressed when my room was clean. Good luck with the evaluations!
