a four day mini-getaway
Sorry for neglecting the blog lately. It seems like things have been really busy recently. However we did find some time to get away from it all for four days last weekend. It was nice to get out of the oppressive heat of the valley and head out to the cool weather of the coastline. We toured the north coast of California and into the southern coast of Oregon. It was a great trip, topped off with a visit to Ashland, OR, where I think I had the best breakfast of my lifetime (and that’s saying alot because I love a good breakfast), at a little eclectic breakfast place called Morning Glory. Highly recommend. The camping road-trip, it’s just what we needed to cleanse the soul.
Check out some of the pictures from our adventure here.

You have some gems in there. I really like the one with Suzy at the beach too… and the one where you guys are holding up the iPhone.

I hope you got to one of the Shakespeare plays while in Ashland….if not this year, some other year. Ingrid & Brad & family and Doug and I spent several days greatly enjoying the plays in Ashland. Don Quixote was fantastic.
After seeing your comment on facebook about blogging vs. facebook I have to add that there is a big difference. Facebook is like standing in the middle of a very noisy room and trying to get some sense of what is going on while blogs are more like a conversation. Of course, I’m still a newcomer and haven’t quite figured out what I got myself into yet.

I was thinking of making the comment about that on Facebook too… I am new to Facebook too, but what is it reminds me of is the old bullitin board days when all this internet stuff was new. I remember when I was single and would check up on a friend’s on-line bullitin board as soon as I got home from work in the evening. It was sad, but that was my social life. Bullitin boards tended to be where people make short comments on subject that were on their minds. Much like Facebook, but without the games. Blogging is a lot different. It can be more like a frequent Christmas letter, or even a public journal entry. I think that the two are very, very different.

Yes, I couldn’t agree more that blogs are more personal, involved experience. However, the ease of Facebook, and the “fast-food” type updates, it almost fills the gap. Couple that, with the community aspect where you can get updates from all your friends in one convenient spot, it really does make life easy. Don’t get me wrong, I like them both, but I can see (predict) the popularity of the blog waning. Just an observation.
And no, we didn’t have time to take in a play in Ashland. Although I wish we had more time to do it. It looked like loads of fun.
